I first started art directing Duke Magazine in 2009 and have completed three redesigns since, each time in response to changing editorial priorities.
The magazine is currently published 4 times annually, mailing to more than 170,000 alumni, and runs between 64 and 96 pages in length, per issue. Pdfs of many issues completed between 2015 and Spring 2022 are available here: https://issuu.com/dukemagazine
In the fall of 2022, Duke Magazine was rebranded DukeMag and I completed another redesign based on a new vision for storytelling at Duke. Pdfs of the new publication should be available shortly at https://alumni.duke.edu/magazine or as soon as the current Duke Magazine website completes its relaunch. (Expected Spring 2023.)
I did the face illustration shown here to kick off the Secrets issue essay series. The two black redaction lines were the graphic element that gave a nod to the “secret” for every essay.
Dukengineer Magazine is written and edited by Pratt School of Engineering students each year highlighting faculty research and student projects around campus. Financial and fundraising data is published in the back.
