This package consisted of a mailed invitation, event program, and dinner menu. I proposed using the acorn, sapling, tree evolution concept to convey the idea of each professor’s eminence and lasting legacy. The project was printed on an economy paper stock and with only one ink color. We did splurge on a foil emboss for the program cover and a ribbon binding. The program was placed on the dinner plate at the recognition event dinner.

My Next Season commissioned me to develop a workbook for use in their advising service for young professionals considering a career move. The project included crafting a visual brand (the Early Career Advantage - ProjectYOU kaleidoscope), mailing collateral, and packaging. Other related work included power point graphics, client proposals, and a white paper.

After the Early Career Advantage program was initiated, My Next Season commissioned me to help them create a companion ProjectYOU workbook specifically aimed at college students.

I designed a custom portrait of each volunteer using a provided photo as a guide.

The Duke Alumni Association All Star Deck was conceived as an alternative to the traditional event brochure. The 37 cards were packaged in a custom box to mimic a deck of playing cards. Each portrait was featured on both the box and the individual’s card. The back of each card highlighted the volunteer’s expertise and related volunteer activities.

This piece was presented at the dinner celebrating the establishment of the Richard H. Cheney, Sr. Professorship in Otolaryngology at Duke University Medical Center. The piece featured a translucent wrap and cover jacket depicting the North Carolina Smokey Mountains in recognition of the Cheney family’s long connection to North Carolina.

The Blue Book is the first publication sent to incoming freshman enrolled at Duke University. Two versions are done each year: one for Trinity students and one for Pratt School of Engineering students. It outlines everything the incoming student needs to know AND do before arriving on campus. This design has been in use since 2006 and features the incoming class year in embossed “lights” on the front and back covers.

There are four sections in The Blue Book and one of my favorite tasks was coming up with the illustrations featured on each tab front.

This is how the cover concept for the Duke Blue Book plays out each year. The front panel number changes, but the die used to emboss the dots remains the same from year to year.

The Duke Blue Book features a fold out calendar and map section that helps the student plan for summer deadlines.

This invitation featured an embossed and foil stamped folder enclosing a customized series of insert cards: invitation, rsvp cards, hotel information card, and invitation to the inaugural luncheon.

Upon the retirement of president Richard H. Brodhead, a series of special events was organized to celebrate his accomplishments at Duke. This booklet and companion menu marked each place setting at the honorary dinner. The booklet highlighted President Brodhead’s many contributions during his tenure and offered quotes from collaborators recognizing his dedication to the life and future of Duke University. The booklet was mailed to a larger audience beyond those able to attend the dinner event.

This piece was developed to consolidate materials offered to prospective students visiting Duke University.
